Help to Buy equity loan and want to move abroad - what are my options?
Main Post:
I have a flat in London with a help to buy equity loan attached (2.5yr remaining).
I want to move abroad for a year or two (may be able to get a job with my existing company in a different international office, maybe not)
Is my only option to sell up or buy the additional equity so that I can rent it out? Could I rent out to a friend for a couple of years under the bank’s consent to let scheme, without having to buy the additional equity?
Does anyone have any other experience?
I’m absolutely dying to travel but concerned I’m stuck here because of the flat (first world problems, I know)
Any advice would be massively appreciated.

Hey Op,
No you can't rent the property and could lose the loan. Best option is to pay it outright. You could rent to a friend but if found out again you lose the loan. Overall you shouldn't let a property hold you back if the opportunity of moving abroad has a higher chance of improvement for your life then to me its a no brainer. The world is full of people who dont take the chances given to them. If the overseas work is a better life then go for it regardless. If it was me I'd look to spend every penny paying it off and then remortgage as a buy to let but best for you to check whats best for you.
Loans in margin calls - Allowed to move from earn

Big news Celsius is allowing me to transfer funds from my earn account to cover a margin call. Email them and request. I explained I didn't have confidence sending in more collateral given the situation.
Many of us are in the same position.
There's hope!
How can I get a quick $5000 short-term loan for moving/rent expenses until I get paid?
Main Post:
Need to move across the country for a new job. Zero money in the bank. I need about $5000 for moving expenses and rent-associated costs. No family or friends with money, but I have okay credit (655). What are my best options for loans??
P.S: thank you to all the personal finance gurus out there. Life is hard enough and having people like you take time out of your day to educate and advise us is very greatly appreciated.
Top Comment: I’d have asked the company for some relocation assistance That said, get a credit card or borrow from a friend. I’d sell damn near everything so I wouldn’t have to move it, that,ll give you some cash and make expenses lower too
If you couldn't pay moving expenses, is it better to get a loan or put it on a credit card?
Main Post:
This is a situation a family friend is in and I was interested to get this subs opinion on it.
The person in question is a recent grad. He needs about $10k to move and pay the first/last/security/other fees. Those costs are non negotiable so lets not quibble on that.
Right now he has an emergency fund of say $11k. So if he pays for all of this he wouldn't have much of an emergency fund left.
Do you think its better to?
A) Keep an emergency fund of $5k, put $4k on a credit card (that is an option).
B) Keep an emergency fund of $5k, borrow $4k from an older sibling (what he's doing)
C) Spend the $10k, have a $1k emergency fund and rebuild from there.
D) Keep an emergency fund of $5k, get a bank loan of $4k
He has to move, and he has a good job when he gets here. The rent is a great deal for the VHCOL city, and in a reasonable neighborhood, not a very pricey one. These numbers aren't exact, I rounded them to make the math easier.

If B is an option go for that one...
If A is a 0% promotional rate, that's also a good choice.
Otherwise C. I would avoid paying interest if he doesn't have to. Alternatively, if he goes with C, it sounds like he could always reach out to that sibling to borrow money in case of an actual emergency.
Should I take out a loan to move out?

If you're young and don't have a lot of belongings to transport, plus a free place to live, you can probably swing a move on $2000. What would happen if your BF dumps you and suddenly you have no place to live?
Moving states personal loan for years rent?
Main Post:
As the title suggests I plan to move states soon. My credit is high 700s and have never missed a payment. I don’t really have family where I plan to move and don’t see how I would get approved for an apartment without recent pay stubs. I also have a emergency fund that I could use to pay the loan, car insurance etc if it takes me a little longer to find a job than I initially expected. I’m aware I’ll end up paying more long term but no rent for a year would give me a lot of flexibility and breathing room for the move. Let’s say rent was 900 and My loan payment was 300 a month. That’s a significant difference. Just want to hear opinions on this approach. Thank you in advance

Usually people recommend that you find a job before you move and use the job offer letter to get a lease. Is that an option?
Am I better off getting a personal loan or credit card for moving expenses?
Main Post:
Personal Loan or Credit
Hi guys, I am graduating college and moving into a new state in a few months. I have relatively no idea how to financially plan so that why I am hoping for some advice! I don’t start my new job until the end of June and i have moving expenses to pay I’m guessing around $5000 before then. I know forsure that once I start my job I will be able to pay off any small loan / credit card within a month of working. My question is: would it be better for me to take out a personal loan to pay for rent and moving or would it be better to put it on a credit card and pay it off when I start my new job? I have a good credit score right now but I don’t want to jeopardize it becoming bad!

So..... I love using sign up bonuses for necessary expenses
You could potentially apply to a new card like Chase Sapphire Preferred, hit their spend (which is 4k$ I think), get whatever points they give for that (about 1k$ worth), and pay min plus interest until you can pay the entire thing (quickly).
Other cards can offer you 0% interest for an entire year. That is better than a personal loan any day.
If you can pay quickly, especially since you say it’ll be under a year, so that interest isn’t a factor, consider one of these ways!
Personal loans are cool but you’ll have interest no matter what- I think cards offer a benefit if you play it right. (And especially if you get something like Citi Custom Cash, idk if they have 0% introductory interest for a year, but it can give you up to 5% back on up to 500$ on your biggest monthly spend category going forward- helpful if you regularly buy gas etc)
But it comes down to habits as well- will you be committed to paying a card off ASAP? Otherwise the card route could end up giving you more interest depending on the sign up offer.
Good luck and congrats on the move and job!
Need to cover moving expenses for relocation
Main Post:
Hi all, I’m kinda at an impass as I just graduated college and am relocating to Pittsburgh in a month for a new job. However this new job will not provide us our moving bonus until after we start :/
Is there any possible ways I can get a moving loan somewhere to cover relocation costs? I don’t have an established credit history and only an offer letter to show that I’m working there. What would be my options at this point?
Top Comment:
Open a credit card with a sufficiently high limit to cover the move. The interest rate is going to be awful with no credit history, but that doesn't matter since you're going to pay it off once you get that relocation bonus.
